Introduction

Chronic pain and illness affect more than 90 million Americans as well as countless loved ones and caregivers whose lives are also changed by chronic illnesses such as asthma, arthritis, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, or fibromyalgia.

Dr. Steiner has written numerous articles about living with chronic illness, the challenges and joys of group therapy, and the Therapist's Professional Will, a way to protect clients when the therapist is unavailable.

CHECK OUT THE FREE Medical Information Form Dr. Steiner makes available here. The form is an easy-to-use, one-page form she designed to help save lives, improve safety and independence, plus give people more control over their medical care.

The Medical Information Form is easy to download onto your computer where you can make changes to your list of medications as often as needed.  Or print out a asilomarbeachcopy and hand-write in your details.

As a psychotherapist who specializes in work with the medically ill, Dr. Steiner has developed a number of self-help forms to help people manage illness and limitations. New self-help guides, Articles and Publications, and updated Resources and Links will be added to this site over time.

In her CD, The Rollercoaster of Chronic Illness: How to Add Joy to the Ride, Dr. Steiner shares some of her techniques for helping people with chronic illnesses live more fully. In the CD, she draws on her professional work as a therapist, as well as her own experiences living with Arthur, of Arthur-itis. Please go to the Order Products page to order the CD.

She and others have found that it helps to have a nickname for one's uninvited companions. Please go to the Contest Page to nickname your illness.
